Police update weekend shootings, murder and stabbing cases

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police and Ouachita Parish Deputies continue to investigate multiple shootings, a murder and a weekend stabbing in the parish.

Woman shot in face delivers baby:

Monroe Police are ruling a shooting that took place over the weekend involving a pregnant women accidental. It happened Sunday on Stacy Drive.

Police say the 20-year-old woman was shot once in her right cheek. The victim was flown to LSU Hospital in Shreveport. She has since delivered her baby in an emergency procedure.

Both the victim and her baby are in stable condition. Investigators are working to determine whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Suspect in teen shooting sought:

Monroe Police continue to investigate the reported shooting of an 11-year-old male that occurred in the 1400 block of Winnsboro road Friday.

The juvenile is in stable condition at a local hospital.  A suspect in the case has not been named and Monroe Police have several leads they are currently following in an attempt to identify the suspect. 

Police investigate shooting of 16-year-old:

The motive for this shooting is unclear at this time and the victim in this case was a bystander.

Monroe Police continue to investigate the reported shooting of a 16-year-old male where the victim was struck in the back with a suspected shotgun. 

This shooting happened in the 1200 block of Plum Street Friday. The victim did not suffer serious injury from this incident. 

The motive for this case is unclear and detectives are continuing their investigation. 

Murder suspect sought: 

Monroe Police are also seeking a murder suspect. The incident happened on White Street in Monroe. Police say 29-year-old Eldrick Carter pulled out a hand gun at a family barbeque and shot three people after getting into an argument with a man.

Police say Carter shot the man multiple times, killing him. The other two victims are expected to survive. Police say Carter should be considered armed and dangerous.

Search continues for suspect in West Monroe stabbing: 

A woman wanted in connection to a weekend stabbing at Ashford Place Apartments in West Monroe is still on the run. 

Police say 41-year-old Wundria Von Byrd went into an apartment late Saturday and stabbed another woman several times. The victim is being treated at a local hospital.

Police believe Von Byrd is headed back to her home state of North Carolina. If you have any information on her whereabouts, call the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.
