Monroe Police update multiple shootings & suspect search

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police continue to investigate multiple shootings over the past weekend and are seeking a murder suspect. 

At about 8:00 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Stacy Drive. Officers arrived to find a 20-year old pregnant woman who had sustained a single gunshot wound to her right cheek. The victim was flown to LSU Hospital in Shreveport, and is listed in critical condition. The status of the unborn child is unknown at this time. The status of the shooting is still under investigation. 

At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police responded to another shooting at 3814 White Street. Upon arrival officers found three shooting victims. The investigation revealed a black male and Eldrick Carter engaged in a verbal altercation at a family barbecue at the residence. Police say Carter produced a handgun during altercation shooting the victim multiple times resulting in his death. Carter also shot two other victims during altercation and their injuries are non-life threatening. Monroe Police have issued an arrest warrant for Eldrick Carter, charging him with 2nd degree murder and two counts of attempted 2nd degree murder. Bond has been set at 1.25 million dollars. Carter is considered armed and dangerous. Monroe Police ask that anyone with information as to Carter's location to contact Crime Stoppers at 388-2274 or Monroe Police at 329-2600.

And, th victim in another shooting that happened in the 5300 block of Blanks Street has chosen not to cooperate with Detectives. Due to conflicting statements from witnesses, the investigation, once concluded, will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review. This shooting incident involved a teen victim.
