MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A local attorney and former clerk of court is gearing up for a new statewide role.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has appointed Alicia Reitzell to the board of tax appeals. Reitzell once ran for Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court back in 2011. Before that, she also served as the Monroe City Clerk of Court.

The tax appeals board deals with waiver of penalties and matters relating to claims against the state, when it comes to property assessments.

According to statute, this board is composed of three at-large gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation.
