Child and teen victims in shootings

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Police are looking into a shooting late Friday night. Investigators say an 11-year-old is recovering from a bullet wound to the abdomen. Police believe it all started at a teen club in Richwood on Hadley Street. Gun fire went off near the 1400 Block of Winnsboro Road where police say the argument ended.

Detectives have a person of interest at this time but they are not releasing any other details.

Monroe police are also looking into another shooting that resulted in a 16-year-old male being shot. Investigators say the teen is recovering from a bullet wound to his back. Police say it was caused by bird shot ammunition.  It all happened overnight on Plum and South 2nd Streets. Police say the victim is being uncooperative at this time.

In both shootings, police say, the motive behind the violence is territory related.
