UPDATE: Police identify victim of Monroe shooting homicide

UPDATE:  Monroe Police have identified the victim of a Friday night homicide as Moses Eugene Mott of Monroe.

The investigation continues into the shooting death of Moses Mott in the 2300 block of Adams Street. Monroe Police have gotten incomplete details regarding the suspect, but are searching for a black male, possibly armed with a large caliber firearm.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Police are searching for a suspect in a Friday night shooting homicide in Monroe.

Around 10:00pm, Monroe Police were called to the scene of a shooting on Adams Street, near North 18th Street. There one victim was found dead in the driver's seat of a gold/champagne colored Grand Marquis.

Sergeant Mark Johnson reports the details of the homicide are limited as the investigation has just gotten underway. Police have received conflicting reports of how the suspect got away from the scene - on foot or by another vehicle - but they are searching for a black male, possibly armed with a large caliber firearm.

Neighbors who heard the gunshots say it was rapid fire, and that they don't recognize the victim's car as being from in their neighborhood.
