Traffic to be monitored from a birds eye view

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - We have seen a lot of pictures of the bridge closure from the ground.

Monday, KNOE 8 News got a view of the closure and the alternate routes from high in the sky.

From ground and air, traffic seemed to be flowing well.

Despite what appears to be smooth sailing on day one, police are going to use the helicopter throughout the week to keep a birds eye view on the situation. Trooper Albert Paxton believes it's a huge advantage having the helicopter in the air this week.

"It's just another view to say hey if something starts to clog up they can put troopers in places quicker. They see it better, I mean you know when you are up above it, it kind of unfolds so it's just better it's actually a perfect way to see the whole thing laid out right there" says Paxton.

Although traffic was not as bad as predicted, Paxton still urges all drivers to prepare by downloading the "Way to Geaux" app, follow the DOTD Facebook, the Monroe Traffic twitter page, or call 5-1-1.
