Lea Joyner bridge causes road and ramp closure

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - It seems John Eason has the hardest job in the ArkLaMiss right now, keeping 40,000 drivers that travel over the Lea Joyner bridge happy for the next four weeks.

that's why this district traffic engineer and law enforcement have been meeting for months...

" And understand this is a problem we all have to deal with the biggest thing that can help the public is the public adjusting their traffic flow" says Eason.

Along with drivers doing their parts, multiple law enforcement entities will be out and about to monitor traffic along with having a quick response time to anything that could slow down I-20.

"On Monday and Tuesday we will have our helicopter in the air and they will be monitoring traffic flow looking for back ups looking for alternate routes that might could be suggested" says Reeves.

With all of these measures and a little planning ahead by drivers the DOTD and law enforcement are hoping the coming weeks will be as hassle free as possible. If your drive time can be a little less stressful Eason's job will be a success.

"Obviously crashes go up but we do not have an estimate of what we anticipate with crashes but we are hoping for very few" says Eason.
