BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A farmer in Bastrop is asking for your help looking for the people who he says stole his cattle.

This catch pen behind me used to have 12 cows and four calves until somebody stole them and their value is more than 43-thousand dollars.

Billy Smith works as a farmer in Bastrop and during Memorial Day weekend he says someone came and stole the livestock that he helped raise.

"We bought these cows, some of them came out of Texas, and some of them Arkansas two or three years ago and we've been raising calves off of them ever since," said Billy Smith.

Smith is mad and upset when he looks in the pen and doesn't see his animals, especially because this isn't the first time someone has stolen his property.

"Seven months ago they stole a cattle trailer from us, up here in the same place and we haven't heard a word from it," said Smith.

An investigation is taking place to try and find out who may have stolen the animals out of this pen. Smith says whoever did it has a big truck and a lot of space to hide them.

"I have no idea who got them, but I do know this. They would have to have a 32 foot trailer to get them all in one lick or they had to make 2 loads, one or the other," said Smith.

The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's office says if you have any idea of who might have taken the animals, you are asked to give then a call.
