Vidrine signs on the dotted line

MONROE,La. (KNOE 8 News) - After several meetings, a finalized superintendent contract has been signed by Brent Vidrine. The Monroe City School Board and Vidrine are comfortable and confident with the details of his contract. However, not everyone in the school district feels the same way.

"We are paying him 150,000 dollars but our past superintendents we paid them 135 and 140 and they had more certification then Vidrine" says Walker.

"Although some in the district may question Vidrine and his credentials he stated he has a superintendent certificate and big plans for improving the Monroe City School District" says Hunt.

Vidrine must present his plan for the district to the board by July 1st for approval and implementation. this will consist of a balanced budget and open communication plan. As well as a performance target and objectives that include a 1 percent increase in test scores.

"Going to be rated through value added and we have are E-L-E-C scores that are rated we are going to evaluate them all with our schools individual teachers and individual principles and see how we can improve that, talking to our people" says Vidrine.

While in office Vidrine is determined to improve the district's failing schools. Along with having a balanced budget to be more efficient with taxpayers dollars. Vidrine will take office June 1st.
