Police investigate stabbing with a machete

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News/MPD) - On 5-18-13 at approximately 0042 hours, the Monroe Police Department was dispatched to 213 Moore Ave in reference to a stabbing.  Upon arrival, officers learned that Emmett Minor threatened a subject and then attacked him with a machete.  Emmett Minor then left the scene.  Responding officers transported the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment.  The victim was stabbed with the machete to his elbow and hands while defending himself during the machete attack. 

The suspect was located by Monroe Officers in the immediate vicinity a short time later and fled on foot.  Police utilized a K-9 to track Minor.  Minor was located by the K-9 and attempted to flee the area in spite of warnings to stop.  The Monroe Police K-9 was utilized to apprehend Minor with a K-9 bite.  Minor was treated at a local hospital for the apprehension bites and later booked at OCC.

 The motive is believed to be a dispute over a past girlfriend between Minor and the victim.  The victim was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery from his wounds.  Minor was booked into OCC by Monroe Detectives for Attempted Second Degree Murder and Resisting arrest.
