FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The family of a Farmerville teen who died at football practice last week says it is overwhelmed by the community's gratitude.

This morning, Jaleel Gipson's family shared a post on social media acknowledging those who have reached out to them with their condolences and monetary funds to cover his burial. Many of those who have given asked to stay unnamed, but the family said in the post, those who have given deserve to be thanked publicly.

Among those are former West Monroe football and Cincinnati Bengal's player Andrew Whitworth who said he will donate the full cost of Jaleel's funeral.

Gipson's family said Whitworth's generosity is helping to ease the burden on their already heavy hearts.

Gipson died several days after being hit during a spring practice drill. he suffered a broken vertebrae and other injuries. He was placed on life support so his organs to could be donated to others in need.

Our Aaron Dietrich is following this developing story and will have reports tonight at 5p and 6p on KNOE 8 News and here at KNOE.COM.
