ULM awards 788 degrees at Spring Commencement

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - ULM awarded a total of 788 degrees to graduate at this year's spring commencement.

Senator Mike Walsworth delivered the keynote address at Saturday morning's ceremony, where he told students "your life's book has already been written, but even more pages are blank and waiting for you to fill them."

ULM President Dr. Nick J. Bruno awarded degrees to the graduates and highlighted six with unique stories. Sara J. Sanderson of Oxford, Michigan, received a Bachelor's degree in atmospheric science will commission as an officer in the U.S. Air Force upon graduating.  Jonathan W. Jopling, who received a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and will report to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.

Darron Underwood, from Monroe, received a Master's degree in Education Leadership and was congratulated for recently being named Teacher of the Year for Richland Parish. Christopher Myers of West Monroe received his Master's degree in Exercise Physiology and is a disable veteran.

The youngest graduate at the commencement, 18 year old Arielle McNeal of Bastrop graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in psychology.
