Farmerville High student seriously injured

UPDATE:

The principal at Farmerville High Scholl tells KNOE 8 News Jaleel Gipson was injured during football practice yesterday afternoon. He says the team was practicing a standard drill when apparently Gipson suffered a head or neck injury. The principal says Gipson has a broken vertebrae.

Gipson's family, the coach and other staff are at his side at a LSU-Shreveport Trauma Center.

UPDATE:

New information this morning on a Farmerville High School student injured at football practice yesterday.

Jaleel Gipson was transported to LSU-Shreveport Trauma Center and was received in critical condition.

Union Parish School officials confirmed the condition statement from the hospital.  They also say that he was airlifted from Union General Hospital in Farmerville to the Shreveport hospital.

Farmerville High School officials announced this morning to students at school that Gipson was on life support as a result of his injuries.

FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Farmerville High School has confirmed with KNOE 8 News that a student was seriously injured at football practice yesterday.

He was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Shreveport.

At this time, this is the only information that has been confirmed by the school.  More details will be reported as they are released.
