GOP Legislator messes up in vote

Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Two Republicans joined with Democrats on the House Health Committee to advance a proposal to tap into federal funding available to offer insurance to the working poor.

The House Health and Welfare Committee already rejected a bill that would have expanded Louisiana's Medicaid program under the Federal Affordable Care Act.

Republican Rogers Pope, of Denham Springs, was one of two GOP members to switch position.

Pope says he didn't realize he was voting to support the bill. The bill now heads to the House.
