Roof repair looks good for Adams County DHH building

Posted: Updated:

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - The Adams County Department of Health and Human Services Building may soon get its roof repaired after county supervisors voted to match a $200,000 grant application.

The supervisors' vote came on a resolution to provide a 50-percent match if the county receives a Community Development Block Grant. The vote did not commit the money outright.

Architect Johnny Waycaster says the proposed new roof would last 20 years.

Allen Laird of the Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District says that while the county resolution envisioned a match of up to $200,000, the total estimated budget for the roof is $326,000, making the county's proposed match more likely to be $163,000.
