NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded.

Police say the men were shot in a car on Interstate 10 westbound near the Metairie Road exit around 3 a.m. Monday.

Authorities closed the westbound lines for several hours as they conduction their investigation. The highway reopened at 5:45 a.m.

Officer Frank Robertson III says the men, a 25-year-old and a 23-year-old, were taken to a local hospital where the 25-year-old died. The 23-year-old, who was driving the car, is listed in stable condition.

Robertson said a dark-colored vehicle was seen fleeing towards the westbound North Causeway Boulevard exit.

Detectives have no suspects and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
