PAWS of Northeast Louisiana Day of Caring

Posted: Updated:

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - PAWS of Northeast Louisiana is celebrating their yearly Day of Caring.

The group spent the day at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter doing some Spring cleaning. It's a day where volunteers from the community came to repair and clean the shelter. People were also asked to donate supplies like food, towels, or litter. Organizers say this is the perfect time to give in preparation for summer.

"Basically it's a morale booster," says Julie Lewis, "for the employees here because they are short-handed, and they are on a limited budget. So it's a great way to get a lot of work done and make it cleaner, healthier environment for the pets that have to stay here."

The Day of Caring is held once a year, but almost everyday PAWS volunteers are helping at the shelter, to join them visit www.pawsnela.org.
