Monroe's Interim City Engineer resigns

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo announced Thursday afternoon that he  accepted the resignation of his interim City Engineer, Columbus "Buddy" Smith two days ago on May 1st. 

A Mayor's office spokesman said that Departmental operations will continue to flow until a new City Engineer has been hired. Professional Engineer Richard Paulus, a 5-year city employee with 52 years of experience in the engineering field, will serve as Acting City Engineer. He will be able to approve and sign off on any necessary plans and paperwork.

Arthur Holland, a 31-year city employee will continue serving as project manager and oversee the daily operations of the infrastructure program.

No time table has been set to name a new City Engineer.
