UPDATE: The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office reports a homeowner shot a suspected robber as the culprit was attempting to steal property.

It happened just after 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the 1100 block of William Harris Road and was reported as a shooting. The investigation reveals that a suspect was attempting to steal property from the home, when the suspect was confronted by the armed homeowner. The suspect then tried to run over the homeowner with his vehicle.

Police say the homeowner, in an effort to defend himself, fired his weapon hitting the suspect at least once. The suspect was taken by air to Shreveport for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department is on the scene of a shooting in the southwestern portion of the parish.

It happened just after 1:00 P.M. Tuesday on William Harris Road. A sheriff's department spokesperson tells us one man has been shot and his condition is unknown at this time.
