WASHINGTON, D.C., (KNOE 8 News) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development will award $5.9 million in grants and loans to Walnut Bayou Water Association, Inc. in Tallulah, Louisiana. A loan/grant of $5,000,000 and a grant of $911,000 will be used for water system improvements in Madison, East Carroll, West Carroll, Richland and Tensas Parishes.

"This funding will support much needed water infrastructure improvements, which are important to the growth of Northeast Louisiana," Vitter said. "This support is especially important to help ensure clean, safe water is readily available for families and businesses in more rural areas."

The grants and loans will be used by Walnut Bayou Water Association, Inc. to build a water booster station site and to improve an existing elevated storage tank.
