MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The man accused of sending the president and other national leaders letter's laced with Ricin was once employed by the senator he targeted.

We've also learned that Paul Kevin Curtis has a tattered past in Ouachita Parish.

When hearing of Curtis's arrest in the Ricin mailings, former Ouachita Parish Prosecutor Dion Young wasn't surprised.

"I won't say I'm super stunned based on a lot of the stuff he had done," says Young, "this wasn't the first person he had harassed."

Young and Curtis have met before in court in 2009.

"The family member more or less filed a complaint, and when I say she had a wealth of information, she had a book of information on things that this guy had posted on the internet," says Young.

Curtis is accused of sending harassing letters filled with Ricin to the president, and a Mississippi senator and judge. If proven true, this wouldn't mark his first issue with harassment. Paul Kevin Curtis pleaded guilty to felony cyber stalking of a family member in Ouachita Parish.

"I won't give sites, but there were a number of sites where he had posted stuff about a family member, and it was graphic, pretty rough stuff," says Young.

He was sentenced to two years probation.

"From then to now he's had no contact, he hasn't violated his probation," says Young.

During his probation, Curtis was being hired to perform as Elvis all over the region.

"Sometimes you don't know the guy walking next to you," says Young, "what he's done, where he's at."
