Monroe Mayor names Interim City Engineer

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Mayor Jamie Mayo announced Columbus "Buddy" Smith, Jr, P.E., has been hired as the Interim Monroe City Engineer, effective Monday, April 15.

Mayor Mayo commented saying he welcomes Buddy's experience and service to the City of Monroe.

A news release details that "Buddy" Smith has more than four decades of engineering experience at the municipal, state, and corporate levels. His work experience includes systems planning & development, highway projects, streets, utilities, drainage, solid waste, landfill, traffic engineering, and water/wastewater systems.

In a release the mayor states there is no immediate timeline to name a permanent City Engineer. Since the November 2012 resignation of City Engineer Sinyale Morrison, the duties of the City Engineer have been shared by Professional Engineer Richard Paulus and Project Manager Arthur Holland.
