City names new animal control officers

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe Police Department is welcoming new Animal Control Officers Troy Schaefer and Kurtis Payton.

Both officers will go through a month long training program to ensure quality efficiency and effectiveness, as it relates to the Animal Control Officers' duties and responsibilities.

On April 15th, the Recruiting Division of the Monroe Police Department welcomed 32 new applicants for the position of Police Officer. This process is called, "New Applicant Day". This process allows the new applicants to meet the Chief and hear his expectations as it relates to the position of Police Officer. Applicants were also orientated on the full duties and responsibilities associated with the position. 

Pending budgetary capacity, Chief Holmes will hire the top 12 applicants out of the 32 applicants that applied. The top 12 applicants selected will attend the North Delta Regional Police Academy scheduled to begin July 8, 2013.
