Lawmakers deal another blow to Jindal tax plan

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Governor Bobby Jindal's plan to do away with income taxes will not be heard this legislative session.

The Louisiana House deferred action on all tax repeal bills, including Jindal's plan, saying it doesn't intend to hear them this session.

The decision appeared to kill any chance for Jindal's plan to get passage. Lawmakers say the house doesn't support a repeal of taxes because of the states' ongoing budget problems. They say if the senate tries to push an income tax repeal, they do not believe the house would support it.
