Coach Shows suffers stroke, but says he'll be fine

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - After suffering a concussion in November during West Monroe's playoff run, head coach Don Shows in back in the hospital again. 

Shows is in the hospital recovering from a stroke. He says he was having problems walking and went to the hospital to get checked out. That's when the doctor told him he had a stroke.

Shows says an ultra sound found a blood clot in his heart. He thinks its goes back to the hit on the sideline when he got the concussion during West Monroe's playoff run.

Shows says his heart doesn't pump the blood out as fast as it receives the blood. He wants everyone to know he'll be fine. He doesn't know when he'll get out of the hospital, but his next step is to go to rehab.

Shows joked on the phone with KNOE's Ron Snyder, saying he walks like Chester on Gunsmoke. He says he's in good spirits and can't wait to get back to work.
