Monroe City Schools moves forward on charter, continues search

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe City School Board voted Tuesday night to move forward on a charter contract for Excellence Academy.

The board also discussed its ongoing search for a new superintendent--and why it's taking longer than expected.

Search Committee Chairman Rodney McFarland says one of the five candidates for superintendent has failed to provide the sufficient information needed for a background check.  The unnamed candidate has been given until 3 P.M. Friday to provide the committee with the necessary information.

Once background checks are completed, the next step in the process involves having the five candidates go before a screening committee, which will further narrow down the final list.
