Mayor announces new transit manager

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo today announced that Mike Crittenden has been hired as the new General Manager of the Monroe Transit System.

Crittenden has more than two decades of transportation experience in the public and private sectors in such areas as fleet operations and logistics, project management, and university academic programs focused on public transportation.

Crittenden previously served First Transit as Region Director of Operations for the southeast, General Manager of Albany Transit System (Albany, GA) and Assistant Executive Director of Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority (Beaufort, SC). He has also held Senior Management positions with Destiny Transportation Group (Albany, GA), Jacksonville Transportation Authority (Jacksonville, FL), Center for Urban Transportation Research (Tampa, FL), and Jackson Public Transportation Corp. (Jackson, MS). 

He holds a Bachelors Degree from Alabama State University and a Transportation & Logistics Management Certificate from the United States Air Force Technical Training Center.

Crittenden is also a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO).
