MARION, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Overnight, Marion Police responded to a call near the intersection of Crow and Stewart where a truck driver who'd been sleeping in his truck was reportedly awakened by two young black males. According to the report, the driver was then forced from the truck at gunpoint and his wallet and cell phone taken from him.

Police say the subjects then called the victim's wife, using his cell phone, telling her they had her husband and demanding money. At this point, the man was able to escape and flee into some nearby woods where he was able to call police from a home there.

The victim has also stated that one of the teens also discharged his weapon during the incident.

After conducting their investigation, police arrested 17-year-olds Donte Cornett of 359 Alice Street and Ladarius Bass of 227 Allen Street.

Police recovered the victim's wallet along with his credit cards at Bass' sister's house where Bass had gone after the incident.

Bass and Cornett were both charged with armed robbery and detained at the Union Parish Detention Center.
