LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNOE 8 News) - On Monday, the Arkansas Senate approved proposals to cut the maximum unemployment benefits the state pays out.

The bill would cut the maximum weekly benefits the state pays from $451 to $325.

The author of the bill says the state's benefits are much higher than surrounding states but democrats say it's unfair to unemployed workers.

The senate also approved a bill that would require unemployment recipients to agree to submit to random drug testing.
