UPDATE: Bull still on the loose

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Owners are still searching for a bull on the run in West Monroe.

The bull escaped from the Ike Hamilton Expo Center during a roping competition. Animal control officers say this isn't the first time livestock have been on the loose. Most of large animals that get out of their pens are caught quickly, but this 500 pound roping steer is still out there.

He escaped Saturday afternoon, wondered across an open field near Interstate 20, and found his way into Restoration Park.

West Monroe Police, Animal Control, and the bull's owners searched the park all weekend.

"He's not dangerous to humans, as far as running at them or anything like that, but what we are always fearful of is him getting in the highway and causing an accident," says Animal Control Director Hack Tull, "the owner is vigilantly looking for him, he's really worried about him."

Animal Control officers say the bull is not dangerous, but should not be approached. If you see the animal, call West Monroe Police.
