NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A monkey's escape from its enclosure at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans led to the zoo's brief closure.

A statement from the zoo's vice president of marketing said a Colubus (KAHL' uh bus) monkey escaped at 10:17 a.m. Friday. Zoo workers were able to confine the animal to an area near his exhibit and were able to return him safely to his enclosure. It was all over by 11:09 a.m.

The monkey is 11 years old, according to a zoo spokesman. The zoo did not release details on how the escape happened. The statement said an investigation was planned.
