MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe took time out this week to honor one of its own who died late last year.

Victor Cascio, who is generally accepted as a North Louisiana and Monroe legend, was honored at a ceremony focusing on his years of community service in this area.

As part of the ceremony members of the Cascio family accepted a Congressional Proclamation on his behalf.

Mr. Cascio, well-known as a pioneer in the community, also owned the iconic "Cheateau" restaurant, where he made a practice of greeting just about every customer personally when he was at the facility on Louisville Street in Monroe.

He also hosted several shows here on KNOE-TV over the years, including "Holidays with Victor" and "Senior Planner".

Members of Mr. Cascio's family were on hand at the Congressional Proclamation Ceremony along with host State. Representative Rodney Alexander.

In accepting the proclamation, his family said he left big shoes to fill, but that it's their job to make sure his legacy lives on.
