Big Easter (egg hunts) coming up this weekend

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Easter egg hunts announced all around the area beginning on Thursday of this week and running through Saturday. Here are a few that we know about so far:

At the Ampy Community Center, located at 4205 Elm Street, in Monroe is hosting a spring festival and egg hunt this Thursday beginning at 9am. Activities include a morning Easter egg hunt, inflatable bouncers, and many more games! 
Also, State Representative Marcus Hunter - District 17 of Monroe and West Monroe in conjunction Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Elite Heathcare Alliance, HAMPCO, Inc., The Monroe Housing Authority, Berg Jones Lane Residents Association and the following churches of West Monroe - Piney Grove, Calvary, Seigle, Trenton and Olive Branch Baptist Churches are sponsoring THREE Easter Egg Hunts.

Friday, March 29, 2013 - Madison James Foster Elementary
        1 p.m.
Saturday, March 30, 2013 - Piney Grove Baptist Church
            11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, March 30, 2013 - Berg Jones Lane Plaza Community Area
            1 p.m.
            New Orleans Saints Player Joe Horn will be the Special Guest
Come hunt for over 5,000 eggs. Come enjoy the games. Prizes will be given. Hot dogs and drinks will be served and the Easter Bunny will visit Madison James Foster for pictures with the kids.
On Saturday, the Easter Eggstravaganza 2013 @ LA Purchase Gardens & Zoo is scheduled to be held.
The Monroe Department of Community Affairs, the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo, and the Louisiana Purchase Zoological Society to announce our annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held starting at 11 am Saturday, March 30. Hundreds of kids will enjoy fun & games as they hunt for nearly 15,000 plastic eggs around the zoo pavilion area. Each plastic egg placed in the pavilion area will contain a prize that ranges from candy and toys to zoo camp scholarships, Zoo Society memberships, bicycles and electronics.
The event is presented by the Zoological Society. Proceeds from this event help the Zoological Society support the zoo with projects, programs, exhibits and activities. Special thanks for the donation of prizes by the Zoological Society, our sponsors and local businesses. A portion of the proceeds from this event benefits the Louisiana Purchase Zoological Society.
