WASHINGTON, D.C., (KNOE 8 News) - Good news for Monroe. The FAA has released its targeted control towers, some 149 of them, that will be closed next month.
Monroe Regional Airport was NOT on that list. The only Louisiana airport to be closed in this move was the smaller airport in Shreveport. There were a number in the Arklamiss, though.
In Arkansas, two towers will close: Texarkana Regional and Drake Field in Fayetteville.
Mississippi was hardest hit, losing 5 towers: Stennis in Bay St. Louis, MidDelta in Greenville, Hawkins Field in Jackson, the Olive Branch field, and Tupelo Regional.
