LITTLE ROCK, Ar. (KNOE 8 News) - The attorney general's office is asking a judge to dismiss six death row inmates' request to order the Arkansas Department of Correction to turn over documents about lethal injection drugs under a public records request.
Assistant Attorney General David Curran filed paperwork Friday saying that the documents the inmates are seeking are exempt from the Freedom of Information Act.
Curran's response comes after an attorney for the inmates filed a petition earlier this week asking a judge to order the correction department to release documents under the state's public records law. The inmates are seeking documents containing information about the origin, history and quality of lethal injection drugs.
A judge is expected to hold a hearing in the case on Monday.
