TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The City of Tallulah and Madison Parish may be settling their lawsuit outside of court.
The two government bodies are involved in a lawsuit over the location of the new Madison Parish Health Unit. The City of Tallulah filed the suit in late 2012, they say a parish health unit is required by law to be in the parish seat. But parish leaders say the city didn't have the available land to build the clinic on.
Police Jury President James Williams says a tentative agreement has been reached. Both parties say they are willing to throw out the litigation and allow the construction for the health unit to continue.
Williams says the agreement won't be official until the police jury votes to approve of the agreement on Wednesday.
