SHREVEPORT, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Caddo Parish school bus driver was critically injured this morning (Monday, the 18th) after the bus struck a metal pole near the Caddo Middle Magnet School.
According the Shreveport station KSLA-TV, the wreck occurred in the 7600 block of Cornelius Lane.
There have been no reports of any injured students.
The driver has been identified as Robert McAdams. Caddo school officials say McAdams was carrying students to class when his bus, No. 477, collided with a pole just after 7 a.m.
The pole apparently pierced the side of the bus impaling McAdams. He was rushed to LSU Medical Center with critical injuries.
Caddo school officials are currently dealing with McAdams' injuries as well as the trauma of students who were on the bus and in the school. Crisis counselors are making themselves available to those involved.
