University of Central Arkansas wants no guns on campus

CONWAY, Ark. (KNOE 8 News) - The Faculty Senate of the University of Central Arkansas is recommending that its campus not allow concealed handguns, even though a new state law would allow it for faculty members.

The resolution, passed Tuesday, supports President Tom Courtway's stance to ban concealed weapons on campus.

The state law was passed last month by the Legislature will not take effect until 90 days after the legislative session. 

UCA Police also oppose the concealed weapon law.

The final decision rests in the hands of the UCA's Board of Trustees.
