VICKSBURG, Ms. (KNOE 8 News) - Three Vicksburg Democratic mayoral candidates say they will appeal their disqualification from the race.
The appeals from David Day, Linda Fondren and Lester R. Smith will be heard Thursday by the Vicksburg Municipal Democrat Executive Committee.
Committee officials say they refuse to certify the three candidates based on residency requirements, felony convictions, and a lack of participation in previous Democratic primaries.
This will leave four candidates on the ballot. The party primary is scheduled for May 7 with a runoff scheduled on May 21 if needed.
