MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - There may be some extra cash flowing into the City of Monroe.
If council members give the final approval next meeting, one company outside of city limits may be able to purchase water.
Mayor Jamie Mayo says this move will help increase the city's bank account.
Charleston Industrial Park, LLC is the group hoping to buy water.
Also making its way to the agenda is the city's spending plan. Councilwoman Betty Blakes made an abstain vote during Monday night's budget hearing. She is hoping for more changes but she's being tight lipped about them.
"The only thing that it is is that we'll come back on March 26th and handle it then and there are some concerns and I'll take them up on March 26th," Blakes said.
The $57-million budget proposal is scheduled for a final approval early next month. That's also when tax payers will get the chance to weigh in on the plan.
