MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The City of Monroe is one step closer to finding an animal control officer.
They now have 5 applications. Next Thursday a committee made up of Monroe Police Officers, PETA, and other community members will narrow the search down to two applicants. Right now, nobody is assigned to deal with wild and stray animals in the city.
Recently, two attacks by stray dogs have killed or injured several zoo animals at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo.
