El Dorado transfer students now eligible for full-ride scholarships

EL DORADO, Ark. (KNOE 8 News & AP) - Officials with the El Dorado Promise say transfer students are now eligible for the program's college scholarships.
Murphy Oil Corp. unveiled the program in 2007 to give El Dorado High School graduates full-ride college scholarships. Before the change announced Thursday, students had to live in the district from grades 9 to 12 to be eligible for the scholarship.
The changes, effective immediately, opens up the program to students who live in neighboring districts and want to transfer in to attend school in El Dorado.
Students can attend any accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S. under the program. The maximum amount of the scholarship is based on the highest resident tuition rate in Arkansas - which is now $7,332 for a student taking 30 credit hours annually.
