Nearly 200 new bass released at Turkey Creek Lake

Posted: Updated:

WISNER, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Fishermen say Turkey Creek Lake just isn't what it use to be but that changed Tuesday. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries released nearly 200 large Florida Bass. The fish are about 4 to 5 years old and came from the Booker Fowler Hatchery. Ryan Daniel is the biology manager locally and says releasing more mature fish instead of little fingerlings will generate some great fishing.

"Well the goal of releasing these Florida Bass is to hopefully produce some ten pounders in a few years. These Florida Bass have the genetics that we hope will reach trophy size in just a few years." Daniel said.

Wildlife and Fisheries released the Bass in multiple locations around the lake including: The Parish Park, Tom King's Ramp, and Redneck's Landing.
