NEW ORLEANS, La. (KNOE 8 News/ WWL) - A police officer is recovering from bullet wounds. That's after, the cop was shot while responding to a robbery Saturday morning. Our CBS station in New Orleans, WWL, says the officer is currently in intensive care. Police say New Orleans Officer John Passaro was shot several times. WWL reports the officer was responding to a robbery and a man opened fire inside a Dollar General store.
"His officer radio fell to the floor and a former law enforcement official of this region picked up his radio and started calling for help," Supt. Ronal Serpas said.
The suspect remains on the run as of Saturday. Police say the officer was shot several times inside the store in New Orleans.
