Arkansas winter storm in full swing

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The leading edge of that winter storm has now reached Arkansas.

Snow and ice have piled up in much of western and northern Arkansas and the National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for an area generally bounded by Harrison, Danville and Paragould.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for northwestern Arkansas.

A quarter-inch of ice has been reported at Glenwood and at Bella Vista, and freezing rain is making several roads slick.

Up to 6 inches of snow was estimated near Clarksville, with 2 inches near Paris and an inch at Russellville.

Also Thursday morning, a thunderstorm at Camden dropped half-dollar-sized hail.

The ice storm warning is in effect until 4 p.m. The winter storm warning expires at noon today (Thursday).
