BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Some relief may be in sight for Louisiana's state debt limit.
Louisiana's financial adviser says the state can borrow more money for construction under the state debt limit than previously thought.
The recalculation relieves the threat of projects grinding to a halt within months. The state can borrow enough money to continue construction projects through June 2014.
Previous estimations would have halted construction before the end of this year.
However, the state treasury office still says it is important to come up with a long term plan to avoid hitting the state's debt ceiling.
