MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A ULM spokesman has confirmed today that Dan Chason, former captain of the ULM Police Department, was terminated by the university on Feb. 8, 2013.
Larry Ellerman, former ULM Police Director, retired from his position on Jan. 11, 2013.
Both Chason and Ellerman had been placed on paid administrative leave for unspecified reasons back in December. Ellerman then chose to retire in January.
Chason was a classified civil service employee, subject to the rules and regulations of the LA State Civil Service Commission. This is a personnel matter, and no other details are available.
ULM police officers Lt. Steven Mahon and Lt. Cleve Grant are coordinating university police operations. Lt. Steven Mahon is the officer in charge until a permanent director is hired.
