Arkansas catching storms

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ar., (KNOE 8 News) - Lines of storms moving across Arkansas prompted a tornado warning but forecasters say the main danger from the mix is straight-line winds and hail.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Hempstead County on Monday afternoon. There was no initial indication whether a tornado was on the ground.

A cold front is sweeping through Arkansas, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms. Forecasters said southern Arkansas was at the greatest risk of severe weather.

The storms should leave the state by early Tuesday. Another storm system is expected to move in late Wednesday or early Thursday. Forecasters say the southeast third of the state could also see more severe weather with that storm.
