South Arkansas alerted to possible bad weather

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The weather service says a cold front will sweep through Arkansas on Monday afternoon and evening, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms. Forecasters say the area at greatest risk for severe weather is on a line south from Arkadelphia to Sheridan to DeWitt.

Forecasters say damaging winds are the main threat, but large hail and isolated tornadoes are also possible.

The storms should leave the state by early Tuesday. Another storm system is expected to move in late Wednesday or early Thursday. Forecasters say the southeast third of the state could see more severe weather with that storm.
