Valentines Day brings the rush across Monroe

MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - It's Valentine's Day and the race is on to get that gift for your sweetheart.

Bayou Chocolate on Forsythe was one place where there was a long line to find a Valentine's gift.

"We happened to come through here and I said 'Oh, Bayou Chocolate.' I'm going to go by there one day. I just need to have a good reason to go. This is a very good reason to go," one waiting customer said.

Other stores like Vee's Flowers in Monroe were rushing to keep up with their deliveries all across the area.

"At least, probably a hundred today," flower delivery volunteer, Jess Barr, said.

The designers at Vee's had been making the bouquets until past 10 Wednesday night and woke up at eight Thursday morning to keep it up and the deliverers will probably be working all day too.

"'Till we get through this evening. We'll be delivering into the night, probably," Barr said.

But this kind of work puts smiles on their faces.

"Yeah it is. It's a nice break-up from my regular job," said Barr.

The love was even being spread amongst the youngest as one young boy attending River Oaks Elementary School bought roses for all the girls in his class and his teacher.

It's a lot of work but a lot of fun bringing smiles this Valentine's Day.
